> I want to figure out how to use AI in ways that protect human creativity, autonomy, and problem-solving

I think this is an admirable goal but I'd be curious how the author plans to even begin approaching it. It seems to me that this ship has sailed. Generative AI is here now, which is seems like it will lead us down a lowest common denominator path, not an enlightened one. How do we "protect human creativity, autonomy, and problem-solving" in the face of technology that is undermining all three, and it's too late to get out in front of?

This seems like such an unimaginative and cynical claim. You're saying you can't think of any way of putting an LLM in service of developing your creativity and understanding?!

If you assume that you can't fix something, you're right.

I find it surprising how many people think we're doomed when it comes to AI, and don't even want to try use this technology in a positive way. I'm not sure if this is a modern american cultural thing or what.

3 entire departments of people at my work are being walked out of the building this week for AI. Not replaced by AI, cost cutting to later possibly afford AI so they can put everyone else out of work too.
