They are stupid.

I saw a post on HN once that was someone’s LLM written blog. This was called out, and eventually the author admitted it but said he’d reviewed it and stood by every idea.

Other people think it sounds better, or it’s “editing” like grammar check (a sibling post thinks this). It’s people who are functionally illiterate plus lazy and just think LLM writing sounds better and is what they would have said anyway.

It’s the same people who would have written school assignments by copy pasting paragraphs from the internet and maybe swapping in synonyms.

I don’t think we should be at all charitable about it, it’s an offence to whoever you’re communicating with and should be called output.
