Also, how greedy am I that when I look at the socially-responsible index funds and see their 10yr returns aren't as good as typical index funds, so I don't move all my money to them.

Can we extend that to include all politicians beyond a certain point as well (say, anything beyond local politics maybe; Wanna move up into State politics or above, get yer brain checked by a headshrink first?) I'd 100% vote for that.
