‘By allegedly targeting child users, Meta "chose to exploit" young people in order to hook them on its platforms, so it could grow its user base and expand its business.’ That’s been standard practice for many industries for decades. I don’t think it is the same. When I’m scrolling IG, sometimes I see violence, fights, etc. I’m most definitely not someone who likes to watch this stuff, yet I get random reels sometimes showing me this category. It makes me question what kind of things a 10 year old is encountering. For fast food, a responsible parent can quite easily control it. So can smoking.

Normally people use this kind of comparison as evidence supporting some opinion, but you left that part out. Are you saying "Yes, Facebook is immoral like these other industries"? But then your tone doesn't fit. Or is this intended as a "whataboutism"? But then why would you include examples where regulation is strong?

Maybe this is the straw that broke the camel's back. It seems like a lot of reforms start by acknowledging basically what you're pointing out here, that something is common practice, but people are finally disgusted enough by it to start trying to do something about it.
