It's literally a job title. One that many people have spent a lot of time and effort to create. It's weird to pretend that you've never heard of it, or the people involved in it.

As it stands in the US at least, it's a corporate marketing term referring to the whitewashing that happened after the 2020 protests to characterize the efforts corporations use to cover their asses from discrimination lawsuits as somehow pro-human. Let's not portray this as some kind of political movement rather than a liability concern.

"DEI Officer" is literally a job title [1]. Obviously "DEI people" would be the kind of people who advocate for what DEI officers do.

That's not the exact title. But there are/were more than one job title that included "DEI". Recently, in USA, those titles have been reworked because of political bullshit.
