The real test of modern civilisation is likely to be climate related. And "events" like rivers drying up seasonaly give us a view of our climate in action,where our dependencies are, and that our whole concept of "efficiency" is actualy maximising exploitation where this NO margin to back off or restrain our over use, followed by whole systems and industries that fail completly.
