Secular people are quite capable of murdering each other en masse for ideological reasons, and indeed have done so in the past. The crusades were caused by human nature and its evils, not by religion.

And don't get me wrong. There are some wonderful relgious and spiritual characters out there ... they're just drowned out by the power sirens and corrupt leaders.
