I think a phone does beat a thinkpad, but not by much.

How so? They have the same radios, the laptop has more human input devices (touchpad, trackpad, keyboard, pen), quantitively better almost everything (more RAM, much better CPU / GPU, much higher pixel count, faster and higher-capacity SSD, better audio, etc)... laptop cameras are the only thing that's obviously worse.
