This argument is tired when at the end of the day, demand for some products is more or less inelastic and the majority of consumers consume them because all the alternatives are equally enshittified.

I don't think it's a tired argument. It's the everyman trying to regain their time while being constantly reigned in harder by tech giants. You sacrifice convenience and privacy, so you kind of always feel somewhat like an asshole buying this stuff. Mostly because you have to. Many people don't move off of things because of the inherent time sacrifice and potential for future time sinks from things not working correctly and the knowledge required to troubleshoot it. If you make it easy people will switch, articles like this are the beginning of the right direction.

For example I moved off cloud services for my media in favour of fixing up a $25 BDP-CX960 400-disc bluray player with a few bucks in parts and a few weekends. When someone complains to me about modern tech, I can't in earnest recommend it though because its not easy. But I can write about it or tell them about it to expose them to the mindset more. Articles like this help IMO.

And there are few alternatives because of a lack of trust law enforcement. Which of course is because of government/regulatory capture.
