For me, the first two years were pretty easy. Take the "As" while you can, they are all worth the same on your GPA whether it's a liberal arts elective you don't really care about or a core part of your intended major.

Your GPA is harder and harder to change (for better or worse) as the years go by. And the courses get more demanding and/or academically challenging, so set a solid foundation early.
