Does it require hitting OpenAI's APIs or can one also stand up a local OpenAI compatible LLM endpoint?

We are actively working on officially supporting this. Because it's open source it is pretty easy to point a coding agent at it now and switch out the model.

		Not yet, unfortunately. We only just opened the repo, and there isn't a public issue specifically tracking local or OpenAI-compatible endpoint support. The issue tracker is here: https://github.com/openai/codex-security/issues If you open an issue with the endpoint or model you want to use, I'd be happy to follow up there.
