News outlet killed story on plagiarism after Cambridge prof hired law firm

this is one of those stories where everyone involved is a terrible person.

we have a professor who stole others work to get promoted (but also donated millions to good causes), a law firm he hired that abuses libel law to scare journalists out of telling the truth, and the people who exposed him are racists who probably only care about this because hes black and they want to imply that all black or left wing academics should be suspected of fraud.

its pretty telling that most of the direct quotes in the article are about Ardays race or political views, and the people who actually did the investigation dont mention race at all.

Yeah, it looks like he mixed up the responses from the study group and this resulted in multiple errors in the published version.

But it is also hard to take this seriously when many of these "concerned colleagues" openly entertain racist ideologies and oppose black professors on campus.

		No, the issue was that he apparently took direct quotes from participants in another study, reworded them a little, and presented them as quotes from his own participants. This is all in TFA.

		It can be simultaneously be true that some of his more vocal opponents support things like hereditarianism & erroneously conflate genetics with race [1], and there is also a case to answer in terms of this individuals scholarship. [1] The social concepts of race doesn't actually map to meaningful genetically distinct pools - and to believe so, despite the clear scientific evidence to the contrary, shows a questionable attachment to the social concept of race.
