This sounds like it might be cool, but I don't know what binaural beats are and why I might want them. I'm guessing I'm not the only HN reader in this situation. If this could be interesting to people like me who don't already know what binaural beats are, and you want to reach those people, consider writing an intro that doesn't assume that knowledge.

It's right in the description > That (urban-legend-coded, totally-trippy-if-you're-fifteen-years-old) app introduced me to "Binaural Beats" - where you play two different tones in each of a person's ears, and the brain scrambles the different frequencies into a single frequency. As I understand it, this is meant to induce specific brainwaves in the listener, which replicate states like "deep focus" or "half-asleep" or "meditating". I've not decided personally if this is real science, or new-age pseudoscientific nonsense. It's probably somewhere between the two.

If you are prepared to go down a very deep rabbit hole, you should start with the Monroe Institute, who have been studying binaural beats for 50 years or so. It’s legitimate, bought CDs from them 30+ years ago, and they are still around. https://www.monroeinstitute.org/pages/early-history-research...
