It's possible to intelligently discuss the merits of Chinese society and also acknowledge that it's a brutal autocracy.

Making some kind of equivalence of the two in terms of the rights of the individual is so ridiculous that nobody is going to take anything you say after that seriously, you do your arguments a disservice by doing it.

"Yet" is the keyword. it won't be long before we arent' any different from china at the rate we are going at and I think a lot of us would be better off preventing the west from turning into an oppressive autocracy instead of judging china.
