| On first read of the headline I thought they are now offering a way to join Anthropic by paying them 65k USD. Sounds like a steal to get Anthropic on your resume! |

| Seems roughly in line with UCSF's entry-level post-doc compensation: https://postdocs.ucsf.edu/pay-and-benefits That too, of course, is too low to live comfortably on your own in SF. |

In practice it doesn't work like that, usually people who start with those kind of salaries get stuck as a permanent underclass in the Bay. When I was working in biotech out in SF plenty of people were getting like 45K and just expected to make it work. | This was a really dumb move by Anthropic. They can clearly afford to pay more and attract the best talent. Why be so stingy? Focus on growth. |

Happens more than people are aware of. A large percentage of companies will underpay people or even commit wage theft, if they can get away with it. | |

However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this. | |
