Oh I'm certain they are. That's why educators and staff in the United States get fingerprinted and submit background checks.

Likewise, for adults, your one job is not enough. As someone with dual employers in unrelated industries for all their career the the ignorance and assumptions people profess from the perspectives of their singular employment is striking.
