I actually think the item is worth consideration. But gratuitously flauting HN guidelines won't help you. Following them may. The New queue is brutal enough without adding handicaps. The rules aren't made up, and they're certainly not mine; they're linked at the bottom of most HN pages ("Guidelines" and "FAQ"). You can also search for moderator comments which often give additional clarity using HN's search feature: "by:<username>", generally dang, tomhow, sctb, and pg, with dang giving you the broadest coverage. Select "comments" rather than the default "stories" from the results page. Title guidelines are pretty consistent. Editing is permitted though generally only to avoid clickbait or a few other conditions, and in that case, relying on text from the article itself. Editorialising is strongly frowned on. See: - Editorialising: <https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&que...> - Title from article text: <https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&que...> I'm not a mod, just a space alien cat who's been here a while and has studied the mod practices. Don't always agree with them myself, see: <https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48866236>. | ||
