>No one is against protecting minors

I am. Be a parent. That's your job. Not mine. I don't have children. Stop expecting me to protect yours. The childless are a majority now. Get used to hearing this more often.

I’m a parent and don’t agree with this kind of measure. No parent in my non-tech circle wants this. None of them are worried about the stuff politicians talk about. We care about raising them well, schools, energy drinks, bullying, whether they will have a liveable planet and a good life.

That said, I think your take is somewhat rude and antagonistic. Collectively, we go to some effort to protect or support different groups of people. Society puts in place reasonable measures to sensibly aid those that need a little extra help.

Parents don’t expect other people to provide that where it is unreasonable. No supported group does.

Substitute <target> for something else and you get:

> I am. Be blind. That’s your job. Not mine. I can see. Stop expecting me to care that you don’t. The sighted are a majority. Get used to hearing this more often.

Does that still seem fair?

The blind didn't choose to be that way. Grow up. Be the parent and stop being a manchild expecting the world to raise your children for you. You already get generous tax credits for every child, paid for by the childless. I think they are too generous. You already get a generous helping of property taxes to pay for your child's public school (aka, daycare). You leave work early to "pick up the kids" while the childless stay behind and pick up the slack.

I'm not advocating that we take away wheelchair ramps, but you intentionally want to conflate it with that so you can continue to steal money from the childless and force the childess to do your jobs for you. I'm sick of you people acting like your offspring are more important than everyone else. They are not. You will not get age checks. We will vote you down. Everyone is sick of coddling you.

I don’t think we could have a productive conversation together.

I’m sorry that parents irk you so much, I really am, and hope that this eventually gets better for you. I’m not in your country, and any tax breaks you think I get are offset by the cost of raising a kid. I’m not at your job, but parents everywhere are known to be reliable workers that are more likely to stick around as their risk threshold gets higher. And all people everywhere contribute what they can, especially since knowledge workers can only crank out so much; staying up late increases mistakes and decreases productivity. These parents you think leave early are dead tired and probably catching up on work whenever they can, while juggling the unfair stupidity of a 2-unit nuclear family in the modern society.

But hey, I don’t want to convince you of anything. As I said, I doubt we’d come to terms with each other’s worldview. I hope someone’s kids contribute enough to your country’s social security backlog so that you can retire one day.

And perhaps… don’t insult strangers on the internet? Especially since they agreed with you that Chat Control is pointless and unwanted. Yapping manchild at someone is kinda funny when your entire take is aggression and the teenage angst typical of arrested development.

nobody really thinks its about the children, the epstein class people pushing this total control mechanism definitely do not have the best interest of kids in mind.

The funny thing about the Epstein situation is those children had parents. Where were they? Why did the parents let their children go off to a private island to be "massage therapists" for billionaires? It's not like they didn't know what was going on. Jeff didn't just kidnap Virginia and take her to the island. She went with the full knowledge and approval of her father. Why are the parents blameless? The entire situation would not have happened if the parents did their damn job.
