Hi HN, I built Stell-R to answer a different question than streaming recommendations do: not "what sounds similar" but "what actually influenced what," based on documented citations in music journalism and reviews rather than listening behavior. ~25,000 artists in the graph right now. You can navigate and visualize the whole graph, artist by artist. There are two ways to connect two artists: shortest path (fewest hops), or "Explore Deeply," which is meant to find the richest documented lineage, with a minimum spanning tree instead: keep each artist's single strongest documented connection, discard the rest, and there's exactly one route between any two points on what's left.
