You can either spam 100 notes in a row, or you effectively end up with:

    melody   = [ a, b, [c+d], e, ... ]
    bassline = [ b, _, b,     _, ... ]
    music = melody + bassline
    score = [
       "a bunch of helper text",
       + melody,
       + bassline,
       + page_size, etc...
    ]
