With Covid the government leaned on social media companies to get people banned. In that era “deplatforming” really went crazy and you had colleges starting to ban speakers or even firing faculty with contrarian opinions. I didn’t mention this but this was also an issue with contrarians regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which continues today with people in absurd situations like Huseyin Dogru. I’m sick and tired of people trying to force opinions they don’t like off the stage. The “paradox of tolerance” folks and the safetyist folks have a right to their opinions too, but they don’t have the right to compel others.
