But while we're on the subject... Nginx is the most old-fashioned-feeling software I have the displeasure to use. For me the official documentation is almost useless, there seem to be many hidden surprises, and after years of working with it I am still never confident of any configuration change I make.

Add that many useful extensions seems to require recompilation.
