I'm all for making organizations more efficient in their operations but that requires that their operations be for the common good. It would not surprise me if a use case of this is to refine their files on "political subversives" who are then labeled as an enemy of the state.

At any rate every time I've explored using AI for fraud investigations it is only ever a hindrance that would never arrive at the actual conclusion if left to its own thought process.

The feds are incompetent enough to begin with. Shackling them to AI is an insidious means of burdening them with underqualified talent armed with outsourced intelligence at taxpayer expense. Nobody aligned with AI has any interest in empowering the feds to be more proficient at investigating sophisticated crimes. You should be celebrating this as a victory.
