Ask HN: Macbook or Linux Laptop for devs and heavy users?

Hey everyone, I'm really curious to hear from people who pushes high end MacBooks and Linux laptops to their limits in daily use. I'll share my daily experience with my Linux laptop below, and I'm hoping to use the feedback from those who have been on both sides to decide if I should make the jump to a MacBook in the future. My experience: I'm a web developer doing both frontend and backend. I also do some mobile dev with Flutter. Personally, I prefer using an Android phone and a Linux machine. I'm currently using an Acer laptop with an i7-13700H and 32GB of DDR4 RAM. I got my company to buy it for way cheaper than similar models on the market. While the overall performance is really good for the price, the speakers are absolute trash and the screen is just okay. Here is what's on my mind: Even though I can get about 3-4 hours of coding done on battery, it's obviously nowhere near a MacBook. I don't really need that long battery life most of the time, but it still sounds nice to have. Like I mentioned, my current laptop has above average specs, but despite that, it still stutters and lags sometimes. It doesn't make the laptop unusable or anything. It's just that when I have a few WebStorm projects open, or especially when I fire up the Android emulator for Flutter, I can feel the machine struggling a bit. Long story short: If I ditch my current laptop and spend my own money on a much more expensive MacBook Pro (or an Air if that's enough), what will I actually experience in terms of performance and smoothness? How will it feel moving from the freedom of Linux to macOS? I'd really love to hear from people who have heavily experienced both ecosystems with usage scenarios similar to mine.
