Nescod (No Electricity and Sustainable Cooling On-Demand) is an innovative, passive cooling technology developed by KAUST researchers that operates without electricity. It uses the endothermic process of dissolving ammonium nitrate in water to generate significant cooling, making it suitable for food storage and room cooling. The system uses solar energy to regenerate the salt, enabling sustainable, repeatable, and low-cost cooling.
