the BOM percentage point is what makes this different from normal price cycles. a $150 memory increase on a $1000 iPhone is 15%. on a $60 midrange phone it's the whole margin. so AI isn't just making SBCs expensive, it's literally making budget smartphones unviable to manufacture. the hobbyist SBC market and the sub $100 phone market are dying the same death for the same reason.
