Assembly is a vertically-integrated, technology-native holding company that acquires industrial real estate. We take an AI-native approach across the full surface area of our business; data-based geography selection, owner outreach, due diligence, deal structuring / scenario analysis, property & tenant management, and more. Our intention is to build one of the largest real estate companies in the world, and to be the most technology-native real estate owner in history.

We are hiring a Founding Engineer (Full-Stack) to design and build our proprietary technology stack from inception. You will own the development of our tech stack and have significant autonomy to build. Experience with Python, React / TS, LLM APIs, data pipelines, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, web scraping and entity resolution are relevant.

Cash compensation of $250K - $350K with meaningful equity compensation as the Founding Engineer of a new business.

Could explain the thesis/context a little more? Are you PE-adjacent? Are you trying to improve these sites/facilities? What exactly do you mean by "industrial real estate"? Are you acquiring just the sites or the facilities as well? Could you give an example of an asset and what levers you pull on it?

Looks interesting and have always wondered if/why more real estate companies aren't taking a tech-first approach.

How did you decide on doing this for industrial instead of (for example) residential?

I'm interested but don't have much of a finance or real estate background. Is that a problem?

Thanks! We are focused on a particular vertical in real estate we believe offers an unusually compelling risk / return skew given structural growth in demand and significant barriers to new supply. No issue with relatively little experience in finance (our team has plenty) or real estate (our team also has plenty) if a strong fit for the engineering needs of this role!
