How are people handling this... mentally? and preparedness wise? I can't imagine what the next generation may have to live through.

Most serious people realized decades ago that you just build a bunch of nuclear powered DAC and require oil companies sequester it. What occurred for last 30 years was a bunch of nonsense political BS and signaling that annoys effective people but they largely ignore.
