Regardless if the exponential trend the author writes about is correct or not, I do think the cost of AI is reversing the trend for coding. For quite some time the tools we used have become cheaper and cheaper and more avaliable than before. Nowadays compilers, IDEs and other tools are increasingly open source or at least free or very cheap. But with AI its no longer the case.
