At 30 fps you already have 30ms between frames so you aren't getting anything close to instant input.

if my eyes see 120 FPS, my brain expects input lag to match. dissonance causes dissatisfaction.

		That's very individual. Particularly for games where twitch reflexes are irrelevant, I much prefer smoothness to minimizing input lag.
