So you want to have fun coding by hand while also making bank along the way? Yeah, those days seem to be increasingly over. This is new for us, but it’s not new globally. There used to be professional portrait painters before photography ruined it. Lots of great artists honed their skills and made a living that way. And there were skilled weavers before the loom. Computers (humans who computed things) before the digital computer was invented. And so on. And I’m sure the first photographs don’t look as good as a skilled portrait painting. Arguably they still don’t. But that didn’t save portrait painting as a profession. We’ll be the same. You can still write code by hand for fun, just like you can paint for fun. I’m currently better at solving problems and writing code than Claude. But Claude is faster than I am, and it’s improving much faster than I am. I think the days of making big money for writing software by hand are mostly over. | ||
