I don't think it's outright corruption so much as quid quo pro. Think about PRISM and other such things. US tech companies operate globally, hoover up a vast amount of personal information, and pass it all right along to the US intelligence agencies. So the more intrusive and vast these companies become, the more the US intelligence apparatus gains from it. Polls consistently there's extremely high levels of concern about what companies are doing what people's information, and we have a million 'real life' privacy laws. The complete absence of anything meaningful on the digital front, from either party, is highly conspicuous. | ||
