There's no obvious way to change the location of the prediction. Can it be done, to support the "travelling soon" use cases?

Yes, but currently only possible via url param:

- https://weather-sense.leftium.com/?n=nyc

n is short for "name" and uses the Open Meteo geocoding API[1].
