webp is smaller than jpeg

ALSO - the blog author could simplify - you don't need any code at all at the web browser.

The <img> tag automatically does motion jpeg streaming.

JPEG XL looks to have pretty poor support.

		Yes, though hopefully not for long; unfortunately not all codecs are given equal treatment... If having native support in a web browser is important, though, then yes, WebP is a better choice (as is JPEG).
