I have two blogs and they are both for one of the same reasons - as a public personal journal and I don’t care if anyone sees them. I don’t have links to either anywhere on the internet and they are both hosted on micro.blog. I am a customer facing staff cloud consultant (specializing in app dev - “application modernization”) and when I have new personal insight, I randomly ramble to ChatGPT and ask it to give me a “devils advocate” response or a “steel man’s response”. I go back and forth and give it my responses. I ask it to write a blog post about our discussion. I have instructions like no em dashes, no “not $x. But $y”. No call to action etc. I still edit the output heavily. Once I am satisfied, I post it to my blog. My blog doesn’t have my name attached to it anywhere or any contact information. I do review it sometimes. What I feel is a really good post after a bunch of edits and giving it time to marinate, gets copied to LinkedIn - with no link back to my blog. Even then I don’t care about “engagement”. It’s so I will have a corpus of well thought out posts if I am looking for a job later. The other types of posts are just links, with a quote from the article and if I saw the article on HN, I link to the comments. I don’t need network opportunities through my posts. I’ve been in the tech industry for 30 years this coming June and I’ve been in consulting 6. I have plenty of industry contacts and a solid reputation. FWIW: the other blog is just recording my frequent travels and concerts with my wife. | ||
