I have been tracking this for months. There is clearly at best, bias in moderation on the IETF list or possibly far worse. When djb was suspended for an innocuous reason, at the same time participants were engaging in activity that would usually be met with permabans (name calling, bullying, etc.). They were not banned. Name calling, bullying (forms of systematic harassment) and attempting to instill feelings of social isolation in a target are documented techniques employed by intelligence agencies in both online and offline discourse manipulation / information warfare.
