While modern software does manage to make life marginally easier and simpler in some very specific ways, they generally manage to do so while also looking like absolute garbage, consuming hundreds of megabytes of memory to do tasks requiring kilobytes while burning through multiple orders of magnitude the amount of instructions actually needed to do the work.
