Social media and lack of scientific research literacy is going to eventually prove to be fatal for modern society, even with this Tylenol thing, I have on one side people that believe a study blindly without reading that it's not taking into consideration several important variables and more studies are needed, and on the other hand I have people that did not read at all the study saying that it's impossible Tylenol could be causing anything because it is the only pain med pregnant women can take... clear non understanding of how controlled trials work... Same thing with the UFO "Alien" video that was "shot down" by a hellfire missile (most likely a balloon), people just automatically assume that because it was said in congress it has to be true, zero analysis whatsoever of the footage or wanting to seek analysis by an expert, nope, it must be an alien. There is so much misinformation, so much lack of understanding, and so many people, from every side that just have complete and utter lack of understanding of how seemingly basic things work, I am afraid for the future. But yeah! let's unban unscientific sources, oh and people who are okay with a literal coup on a democracy. |
