It wouldn't have killed you to look for something slightly older, seeing how I mentioned Babylon. The oldest European map, of Greek origin, unsurprisingly has the Aegean at the center, and North pointing up. Creativity historically played a part in drawing maps but the "up on the map is better" philosophy is rejected by the reality of the first documented maps. | ||
