In Californias batteries have in recent years decreased the fossil gas usage by ~40% and essentially removed the duck curve. Demand side response is of course cheaper but there will always be people willing to buy it expensive electricity to fulfill a certain demand. Take a BEV. The charging is generally optimized for when electricity is cheap and abundant, but when going on a roadtrip without flexibility in their charging people are willing to pay more. Paying more opens the possibility for batteries and other solutions to fulfill the demand. |
