I find myself in both the spaced-out "slow thinker" and witty "fast thinker" camps depending on the situation I'm in and the people I'm with. I think it's less about mental predisposition like the article says and more about how comfortable I am. When I'm with old friends, processing time feels snappy because I'm less burdened by anxiety and general mental defense mechanisms. When I'm underprepared for a job interview or with a new group of people, the latent anxiety and subconscious doubt uncontrollably slows down the quick processing part of my brain. |
