They can avoid doing so by setting up a shell company in a tax haven that owns the rights to the branding, to then create subsidiaries that then license the branding for vast sums, as per the Starbucks business model, to never make any profit since they have these extra costs that have to be paid to tax havens. If the US can make you pay the income tax difference when living abroad then I fail to see why we can't do the same for companies using these kinds of schemes. |
