Well I got told it cant do that hal.

I wrote it the following, and the interface responded with possibly the ugliest error I have ever seen (error here https://i.ibb.co/JWcGFX2C/image.png):

"I would like to build a community gathering and event planning app. In one sense it would resemble modern dating apps, and in other senses it would resemble project management software, and in even another sense it would resemble org chart and hiring software.

Things it needs to be able to do: Someone can open the app and swipe through local events in their area. When they affirm their interest, they are added to a list of candidates the host can see. The event itself appears as both like an airbnb or eventbrite type listing, but also has roles. For example at a pot luck you might have different people responsible for bringing different dishes. For more complex events, you might need people to set up stages and av equipment. As a host describes their event, AI helps them flesh out all the things they may need and tasks they may need to accomplish. This would include roadmap and gantt chart type functionality, including timelines of when prep work needs to be handled.

The guest profiles would look like a combination of dating profiles and linkedin profiles, advertising competenticies and interests.

This app could be used to organize bbq's, get togethers for peoples kids, trivia nights. Enumerate a bunch of other types of examples that would benefit from this type of event project management."

The tldraw team did something similar a while back, called tldraw Computer [0]

Same concept, but the tldraw team delivered something with a bit more personality.

I hate that one of the examples given is "make a corporate social media post". We need to have a really serious talk about how to remove corpos from the human internet.

Is this the next trend in terms of llms?

Their landing page is here btw, https://opal.withgoogle.com/landing/ (the slash at the end is necessary)

For quite a while now, in enterprise consulting, with project delivery based on integrating multiple SaaS products, the hype has been using AI for low code integrations.

Even if not perfect shows the trend, that in many domains language wars no longer matter as people on online forums think it does, or eventually won't matter, remember "worse is better", it only needs to kind of work, most of the time.

Every time I see a product launch named 'Google X', I just think to myself how many months will go by before we see 'Google Sunsetting Opal'

Is this Google's n8n competitor?

It's pretty incredible the extent to which "AI Agents" are basically low-code/flow-based programming tools with upgraded NLP blocks.

"We’re launching today in a US-only public beta because we believe the best way to build a new product is with our community, right from the start."

Umm...haven't seen that one before!

Not sure why you were downvoted. This should be the default comment on any new service Google presents.

Even funny (and in this case real) jokes grow stale when repeated too many times
