I feel like covid was only yesterday, yet it seems people have already forgotten the lessons we learned about lack of supply chain resilience. Resilience comes at a cost, and that cost is efficiency. That is the tradeoff being made here. It's not just that people want to light money on fire, or some misguided maga "buy american" nonsense. Especially silly when the chance of China invading Taiwan is very nonzero. | ||

You don't import apartments or even the materials used to manufacture them. Arguing tariffs drive rent prices rather than the cost of luxury consumption and corporate capex any more than the progressive income tax does is absurd. | ||
