AI is just a diversion from the lack of exciting new features or products. New colors and bigger screens just don't quite do it any more and AI probably won't either. The real problem --- they have reached a marketplace peak in terms of monetization with their decades old technology.

I’m not interested in them rushing out some “me too” chat bot. If I want a chatbot, I have a lot of options. I’d rather Apple spend to working on deep integration. I’d rather wait to have something good, than have something bad as soon as possible.

I don't disagree that Apple's AI efforts have been disappointing. But outside straight up LLM basic chat interfaces, I haven't seen much of anyone integrate AI well, anywhere. There seem to be some easy wins for it out there with simple tasks, maybe setting settings on a phone, but nobody seems to do it well in any kind of grand way, and often not even in small ways. In the meantime the Apple AI panic news articles seem more like memes every day. You'd think we were back in the mid 1990s Apple days from these articles... I feel like there's some news site competition where nobody wants to get left out of the group panic. |
