Public servers sure, may have protections in place but your own server and with IRCd's being easy configurable makes it non-trivial.

		Yes, because you don't need to fork $$$ to enable the basic "native" features. Not forgetting the advertising, having your data mined and any other miscreant features that they decide to implement. You buy Nitro within discord and you still have advertisements.
