This reminds me of a current problem facing the bio-imaging community; many microscopes, many formats. My company specifically deals with one of the post-processing steps and we've had to build our own 'universal adapter'. Its frustrating because it feels like microscope companies are just re-inventing the wheel instead of using some common standard. There has been an effort to standardize how these TB size datasets are distributed[1]. A different but still interesting issue. | ||

There’s DICOM but last I worked with it it was a disaster. , because everyone implemted it differently. Seemed like a solution looking for a problem. Also didn’t help the standard is like 200 pages and it was a design by committee, none of whom appeared actually interested in coming up with a reference implementation. I never understood why everyone didn’t just use TIFF |
