You don't need to actively lock a Tesla, just walk away. It will lock itself as soon as it realizes you're no longer next to it.

Yes, this took some getting used to (what if it doesn't realize I'm gone?), but in several years of Tesla ownership it has failed to lock precisely zero times. And now I regularly forget to lock non-Tesla rentals.
