I live in rural America. The big farmers do not have second jobs. But there are tons of small hobby farms. And there are plenty of farms owned by wealthy people in cities for tax breaks or playgrounds (hunting, 4 wheeling, camping, etc). Production would likely go up if there were a lot fewer farmers.
