As I recall, some of those stories turned out to be "customer doing shady things, Stripe is in the right". But the others were different, like "Stripe actually screwed up and fobbed off their customer until it became a PR problem"

Personally, I don't think a complainant's apathy towards commenter curiosity counts as an admission of guilt.
